Universal Calibrator System

The Universal Calibrator (UC) system is used for calibration of temperature in Q-SUN xenon arc testers and irradiance in QUV accelerated weathering and Q-SUN testers. This system consists of irradiance and temperature "smart sensors" that can be used to calibrate all new Q-Lab testers. All smart sensors are affordably replaced or recalibrated yearly.

A handheld display unit is available that can be used to calibrate older testers, using the same UC smart sensors. Q-Lab also fully services and supports existing, legacy calibration radiometers and thermometers.

Temperature Calibration QUV Temperature Calibration

The QUV black panel temperature sensor needs to be calibrated periodically by the user to assure accurate and consistent results. Calibrating the QUV black panel temperature sensor is simply performed with any standard reference thermometer. Temperature sensors do not require normal replacement.

Q-SUN Temperature Calibration

All Q-SUN onboard black panel temperature sensors need to be calibrated periodically by the user to assure accurate and consistent results.

Calibrating Q-SUN onboard black panel temperature sensors is simple using the Universal Calibrator system’s UC202 calibrated temperature sensor, and takes only a few minutes.  Note that UC202 thermometers come with either an uninsulated black panel (UC202/BP) or insulated black panel (UC202/IBP) sensor.  This sensor must match the Q-SUN's onboard sensor.  The low-cost, combination relative humidity/chamber air temperature is designed to be replaced once a year by the user and cannot be recalibrated.

Calibration of the UC202 thermometers needs to be performed annually. The UC202 thermometers were designed to be disposable and cost-efficient, and can either be replaced annually with a freshly-calibrated UC202 or returned to Q-Lab once per year for an inexpensive recalibration. Q-Lab also performs calibrations of legacy CT202 calibration thermometers.

In the Q-SUN Xe-1, the tester can have an optional chamber air temperature sensor (included for a model Xe-1 with chiller). Calibrating the Xe-1 chamber air temperature sensor is simply performed with any standard reference thermometer. In both the Q-SUN Xe-2 and Xe-3 models, the low-cost, combination relative humidity/chamber air temperature sensor was thoughtfully designed to be disposable. It should be replaced once a year and cannot be recalibrated.

Irradiance Calibration QUV Irradiance Calibration

For all models except QUV/basic, the QUV SOLAR EYE irradiance sensors need to be calibrated periodically by the user to assure accurate and consistent results. Calibrating the QUV tester is simple using the Universal Calibrator system’s UC10 calibration radiometer, and takes only a few minutes. Three models of UC10 irradiance smart sensors are available:

※ UC10/UV smart sensor - for use with UVA-340, UVA-351, or UVB-313 lamps (plus and non-plus versions)

※ UC10/UVC smart sensor – for use only with UVC-254 lamps

※ UC10/CW smart sensor - for use only with Cool White lamps

Calibration of UC10 radiometers needs to be performed annually. The UC10 sensors were designed to be disposable and cost-efficient, and can either be replaced annually with a freshly-calibrated UC10 or returned to Q-Lab once per year for an inexpensive recalibration. Q-Lab also performs recalibrations of legacy CR10 calibration radiometers.

Q-SUN Irradiance Calibration

Q-SUN SOLAR EYE onboard irradiance sensors need to be calibrated periodically by the user to assure accurate and consistent results.

Calibrating irradiance in Q-SUN xenon arc testers is simple using the Universal Calibrator system’s UC20 calibration radiometer, and takes only a few minutes.  UC20 devices are available with either a 340 nm, 420 nm, or 300-400 nm TUV (Total UV) sensor and must match the type of sensor actually used in the Q-SUN tester.

Calibration of the UC20 radiometers needs to be performed annually. The UC20 sensors were designed to be disposable and cost-efficient, and can either be replaced annually with a freshly-calibrated UC20 or returned to Q-Lab once per year for an inexpensive recalibration. Q-Lab also performs recalibrations of legacy CR20 calibration radiometers.

ISO 17025 Accreditation Accredited Recalibration

Q-Lab's calibration labs in the United States, Germany, United Kingdom, and China are all ISO 17025 accredited by the American Association of Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). Our labs are can perform recalibration services for all UC, CR, and CT radiometers and thermometers.
